• At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to:
• Explain the current approach to the management of patients with pain.
• Discuss the nonopioid and opioid pharmacologic options available for the treatment of pain and for acute and preventive treatment of migraine and compare them based on their efficacy, dosage and administration, potential adverse effects, drug interactions, and cost.
• Review the efficacy and safety of the fixed-dose combination of tramadol and celecoxib (Seglentis) for treatment of acute pain and intraoperative administration of the fixed-dose combination of bupivacaine and meloxicam (Zynrelef) for treatment of postsurgical pain.
• Discuss the efficacy and safety of IV meloxicam (Anjeso) for the treatment of moderate to severe pain.
• Determine the most appropriate therapy given the clinical presentation of an individual patient with pain.
